The Tour de Habitat was only possible because of the selfless work of the volunteers. They helped with all aspects of the ride, from its organization to refueling the riders at rest stops. We are truly grateful for their generosity.
Here are two volunteers perched atop Thatcher Park. They happily served us bananas, oranges and PBJs. The photo below was taken about 9 miles after the rest stop, on the approach to the century ride's most challenging climb: Cole Hill Road. Dave Cherubin (left) and Deb Macfarlane show no trepidation as they pedal toward the 500 foot climb. It hits 18% grade at one point. Maybe they should be a little anxious... |

While it might be aesthetically poor to have two similar photos together, it makes temporal sense. This is the view from my bike on the approach to Cole Hill. I use two bike computers so that I can see all the data I care about in one glance; pressing buttons while riding could be distracting!
One could mention that snapping photos while riding is distracting, but I don't usually do that. |

Deb and Dave putting the finishing touches on Cole Hill. That ribbon of asphalt in the background is the approach road from the previous two photos. Kinda steep, eh? | ||||||||||||||

Capital District Habitat for Humanity (CDHfH) is a not-for-profit housing partnership dedicated to building decent and affordable housing for low-income families in need. Established in 1988, CDHfH is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. To date, CDHfH has built 37 homes in Albany.
Habitat uses volunteer labor and donations of money and materials to provide affordable homeownership to those people who would not otherwise have that opportunity. Habitat creates systemic social change by giving the economically disenfranchised the tools necessary to break the cycle of poverty. |
